Good toe nail polish color for pale skin beauties? :)?

i am pale, not ghostly white...but not tan either and i need good nail polish colors...mostly for my toes but nail colors are needed toooo :)Good toe nail polish color for pale skin beauties? :)?
I also have really fair skin as well.

I would say avoid the really dark colors, like maroon, dark blue or purple, black.... the light colors look best with fair skin like pink, pearl, pale purple....

I personally prefer the pinks myself. I use Petite's Plum Frost. It's a light pink with just a really super-light undertone of light purple (barely noticable) and it's got a little sparkle to it as well. http://www.abeautifulsecret.com/petites-鈥?/a> I got it at Walmart.Good toe nail polish color for pale skin beauties? :)?
basically all bright colors would look good on your skin like coral, pink, bright orange, or any other colors...try to stay away from dark color like black and maroon because they wouldn't look as good on your skin...
bright neon like colors definetly make you look more tan. try and stay away from dark colors.

How much did yours cost? For nail techs or massage therapists? and if i got a loan do i pay it back after my training is done?I want to go to Beauty school...nail techs/massage therapist..how much do u make?
    Kimi,

The first thing that you need to remember is that the range for a massage therapist salary is very wide. This depends on a number of factors, including where you practice massage, what massage techniques you offer, your level of experience and qualification, and the part of the country where you are working. A massage therapist鈥檚 salary can be as low as $10,000 for part time workers, or in excess of $70,000. And you can even make six figure incomes if you open your own massage business. If you're really interested in becoming a Massage Therapist I suggest you do as much research as possible. This http://www.massage-certification.com/ was very helpful for me and I think you will find it very informative.

Anyone know where i can buy beauty salon equipment in Cape Town South Africa, beds, nail stations ect..Ple Hel

Try Hands Down Distribution in Kenilworth or Logica in Milnerton (they stock the Salon Specifics range among other brands). Look them up in the yellowpages. But u MUST be a qualified beautician with a salon in order to buy from them - they don't sell direct to the public.

Would you D-I-Y nail art? Or pop into the beauty salon?

Would you spend a huge some of money going to a nail parlour to get your nails done?

    OR

    Would you rather D-I-Y ?

The reason I am asking is because, I am ardent fan of the nail art. However I am pretty hesitant in parting with my money to get my nails pretty, knowing that i can do it on my own using the right tools. And also, the satisfaction of getting the nails done on your own is just GREAT...

What do you think? If it favours D-I-Y , I might think of setting up a blog on it, considering that there are only few ones out there.Would you D-I-Y nail art? Or pop into the beauty salon?
I'd rather do D.I.y :-)Would you D-I-Y nail art? Or pop into the beauty salon?
i think maybe you could practice first

    then you could DIY

Any nail technicians out there advice pls or beauty therpists?

Im wanting to get some acrylic nails done but Im a serious nail biter with very little nail bed, this is the only way I can grow my nails but Im too embaressed to go to a salon and get them done as Im worried they may turn me away as my nails are badly bitten. I have had acrylic before but my nails are worse since I had them applied last time. what should I do? there is some nail bed and I do wear the false nails you apply at home but they are crap. would there be any reason a nail tech wouldnt work on my nails? Iis it best to go to a salon or get a mobile nail tech to come to me? xAny nail technicians out there advice pls or beauty therpists?
If you can apply false nails then there is enough of a nail bed for your salon to do it. However, I cannot guarantee that you wont have someone that will give you a tiny telling off about biting your nails. The only reason why they might not work on your nails is if your biting had caused any infection to the nail which would only be made worse by sticking an acrylic nail over it. Be brave and go to the salon, it will be a lot cheaper than getting someone to come to you. Good luck :-)Any nail technicians out there advice pls or beauty therpists?
A good nail tech won't turn away a nail biter, they could be one of their best clients, they are the ones that need more maintenance than anyone with half decent nails, so don't be silly and go and get them done. There is obviously enough nail bed if you can apply false nails, and they can give you a slight application to make your nail bed longer, you apply a slight amount of acrylic so that they can get the nail form under and then continue in a normal way...

Go get them done just think what they will look like afterwards.
Been there... I felt as you do and sucked it up, went and had ';silk nails'; which look more realistic, and your nails will grow. Then have the salon remove the nails (they'll have to be soaked in a solution) And...Voilla! You have your own home grown nails!!! :) P.S. A tech did badger me once about biting my nails and I told her if I had the answer I wouldn't need to come to her, and I never went back to her again. Went to her competitor.
I have arcrylic nails on and have bitten my nails for years, they won't tell you off,at the end of the day you are paying their wages so they will welcome you.You have to get infills every 3-4 weeks and it can be quite expensive but they do look nice.Go on treat yourself.
good question ... may tell u later
Honey, I was a nail technician back in the day. For money a nail technician will do Fido's paws! In my reasoning I would assume that is why yu step foot in my shop in the first place. If you are so self conscious of it. Start taking care of your nails yourself for a little bit, maybe they just need to breathe anyway from you always smothering them under all of that embalming fluid and glue. There is all types of information, on how to pamper your fingernails. First of all stop biting your nails when you think about biting them just think you will be further and further away from your nail shop visit for sculptured nails. You dont have to bite your nails! Because I know I stopped. Find some other past time. You have too much time on your hands! You get it now?!! Time on your own hands. Put up a picture, reflect on that picture and imagine your hands looking like that, who knows you may be one of those people who can grow some of the longest beautiful nails and never need to get that fake stuff anyway. I'm not knocking the nails I'm just more into natural stuff. You Can Do It. Stop Biting. If you decide to go to the nail shop and that person has a problem with your little nail bed, just ask them if they have a problem? No professional should make anyone feel bad. At least this is what I was taught in cosmetology school. (Beauty School) whatever you want to refer to it as.
you may want to consider going to visit a dermatologist first and see what they have to say.

What Beauty Schools in TX provide hair, nails, & makeup courses?

Every Cosmetology School(or ';Beauty School';)...It's the ';cosmetology'; course you want...Google it.

Guys say that they like natural girls. Like without makeup and stuff. Trust me. They have no idea what they like. They most likely have never seen a girl without makeup. Just try to keep everything as natural-looking as possible, but not actually natural.

Ideal feminine beauty--does this artist nail it?

Is it just me, or does the painter William Adolphe Bouguereau capture the feminine physical beauty ideal perfectly (as opposed to our modern American, rail-thin runway model ideal)? Obviously it's not the actually ';idea;'; as there is so much matter of opinion and taste involved, I'm just curious to see how many agree with me.

In my opinion, from skin complexion and tone to proportion and curves, he just hits it so well on the build for which a women should strive. The only variation I like is a slightly larger bust than he portrays (I know, typical shallow guy).

If you don't know the look of which I speak, just image search the artist's name and any one of his better known paintings like his version of ';The Birth of Venus,'; or ';Nymphes et Satyre,'; or ';Biblis,'; or ';Lost Pleiad,'; and my favorite, Femme Au Couquillage.'; You'll see what I mean. Physical beauty isn't everything, and certainly not the most important, but man I think this painter hits it. (And yes, I appreciate his great art for other things too, lol).

Also out of curiosity, how many women on this site would say their physical image is comparable to what this artist portrays (and if so, are you proud of, or upset by, that fact, and why--societal/peer influence, your own opinion, etc)?Ideal feminine beauty--does this artist nail it?
I think he portrays feminine beauty at its best. A woman, in my opinion, should have soft curves that make you want to touch her. As a woman I love seeing his work as it helps me see that my body shape is not only acceptable, but can be beautiful.

My body closely resembles the woman in the painting, 'Evening Mood' but with much larger breasts. As a young girl I was ashamed of my body because I matured rather early and was not so skinny as the rest of the girls and was teased for it. It took me a long time to get over that and I guess I think his work helped me realize just because I wasn't skinny and blonde didn't mean I wasn't attractive. Now I am very proud of my body. His worked helped me reach that realization I think. He didn't paint tan, skinny blonde girls.. He painted fair skinned, curvier, dark haired girls like me. So I guess I'm partial to his work.. :)Ideal feminine beauty--does this artist nail it?
I think it does portray femininity because i think woman should have curves and not be stick thin.
errmm im sorry what is the question? could you clarify?
Musee d'Orsay, Paris??? is it the one in this museum, i think i saw it person, i;ve seen two births of venus in my life, one in paris and the other in the pardo of madrid, but at this moment i'm not sure which one is bouguereau's lol sorry.... anyway both painting portrayed venus with a similar body type.

i'm a bit biased when it comes to the skin complexion since i'm myself very white but for the rest i'm a petite women, so i don't fall into the artist idea of the ideal women nor the runway model version since i'm also rather short with a bubble butt :)

but i give you a point that it's a beautiful painting and women with that sort of body have nothing to complain about, but sadly now a days venus would be considered plus sized :*(
I think ';The Birth of Venus'; is MUCH more pleasing to the eye than something like Paris Hilton. Curvy and pale is much better looking, in my opinion, than sickly skinny(like 'eating disorder' skinny) and fake tanned with badly dyed blonde hair and gigantic fake breasts.

I don't think women should strive to be like any type of picture or painting, some women are just naturally larger or naturally smaller than others, so it can really hurt a woman's self esteem to be told by society that she should strive to be ';curvier'; OR strive to be ';thinner';. I've been made fun of my whole life for NOT having enough curves, NOT having big enough breasts/hips and NOT looking like the women in those paintings.

My physcical image isn't at all like the women in any of the artists paintings. I'm very skinny(naturally) and I don't have very many curves, so I guess it kind of annoys me/hurts my self-esteem a little when people say that women who don't look like the women in the paintings you listed(skinny, tall, resembles a runway model, ect) aren't feminine because they don't have enough curves/large enough busts/hips.

I think it would be much better if the fashion industry portrayed all types of women..curvy, skinny, tall, short, ect, ect.
I didn't know which artist you were talking about..so I googled his name. I saw his paintings and they are beautiful! I love this one http://www.tinyways.com/media/img/bougue鈥?/a>

He captures the innocence of the female, which isn't around that much anymore. I have similar features to the girl in the painting. I am fair skined, petite and innocent!

I hope I understood what you meant :)

If that was what was ';beautiful';, us girls wouldn't feel bad about our bodies. But sadly weighing 80 pounds and being 5'8 is what is beautiful, and chances of that changing soon aren't too high... *sigh*Ideal Female Beauty, does this Artist Nail it?
I don't know about it being 'ideal' beauty, but I do think that he captures women 'naturally' . I think that the figures he paints depict women in the most evolutionarily desirable way.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any place to recycle old beauty products?? like nail polish?

How about your local homeless shelter, or perhaps a halfway house for people in recovery? Somewhere that women who need to feel good about themselves for important emotional support could appreciate your gifts. In fact, why not check out whether they are allowed to accept such donations (there may be Health Department bureaucrats who will tell you ';no';), and if so, take up a collection among your friends and friends of friends. Most women have things sitting around cluttering up their space that seemed great at the time, but didn't turn out so great in practice. The girls who need to get spiffed up for job interviews so they can support their babies, the women getting out of hospitals for various problems who need to remember to care how they look . . . you get the idea.I was wondering if anyone knew of any place to recycle old beauty products?? like nail polish?
RECYCLE beauty products? ahem lol. That's funny.

The best way to ';recycle'; them is to give what's left over to a friend who would want them or someone younger who wants to try it out for fun. OR, here's another idea: THROW IT AWAY.I was wondering if anyone knew of any place to recycle old beauty products?? like nail polish?
by putting them in a trash can
Old beauty products should be thrown out.

Talk to your waste management company. Things like nail polish are considered hazardous waste and need to be handled differently.
The City you live in should have a hazerdous waste program. Like on certain days of the month or at a specific location. Call and find out. If they can't help you they can give you the number for the local waste collectors to ask if they do.

Does anyone know who invented the beauty instruments, tweezers, eyelash curler, toenail clippers & nail clippers?

    Tweezers History:

Tweezers are known to have been used in predynastic Egypt. There are drawings of Egyptian craftsmen holding hot pots over ovens with a double-bow shaped tool. Asiatic tweezers, consisting of two strips of metal brazed together were common to Mesopotamia and India about 3000 B.C. These likely served purposes such as catching lice.[1] There is evidence of Roman shipbuilders pulling nails out of construction with plier-type pincers.

Eyelash curler: William Beldue and his Kurlash Company held patents in Canada, the United States and Great Britain for the eyelash curler and improvements to it.

Nail clippers: The invention of nail clippers has been attributed to Chapel Carter in 1896. Before then, nail scissors and nail files were used.

  • Can i attend beauty school for training as a nail technician and go to a regular college like CU Boulder?

Sure! As long as you have the ambition, drive, time and energy to go to full-time school and cosmetology school as well, it's certainly possible. Lots of cosmetology schools offer evening and weekend classes that are flexible with your full-time schooling.

The benefit of nail technology training is that is a pretty fast, affordable program. You can be in action as a licensed nail technician in Colorado in no time. It looks like the Colorado state cosmetology licensing board requires 600 hours (20 credits) to become a manicurist.

The first link below has a comprehensive list of beauty/cosmetology schools in Boulder. The second one is a list of schools that specifically offer nail technology programs in Colorado.

Are you supposed to tip the owner of the nail or beauty salon if they are the one who performs the service.?

Well, I am an owner of a salon and let me tell you. Generally most of my clients that have been with me before i owned my salon still tip me but I if I don not get a tip that is alright. The thought is that since I make all the money that i make (I do not take any percentage less than 100%) that I really do not need it. so in a nut shell, if you want to you can but you are not obligated to do so. and no the owner will not get mad at you.Are you supposed to tip the owner of the nail or beauty salon if they are the one who performs the service.?
Yes, unless you are stingy in which case you shouldn't expect any kind of service. Are you supposed to tip the owner of the nail or beauty salon if they are the one who performs the service.?
    No. Never tip the owner.
Technically you are never supposed to tip the proprietor. So shop owners need not be tipped. But I do anyway, its just a kind gesture.
    YES!
Depends on the country. In France tipping has a very different connotation than in the U.S. and I always tipped the owner (mind you, that French tips are much-much smaller than in the U.S.)
I would. You're supposed to tip based on the service, not whether the person is an owner.
You should tip anyone who performs a service. You would tip your waiter at a restaurant even if he was the manager or franchisee, wouldn't you? I'd hope so.

Just because they're the owner doesn't mean the money you pay for that service is going in their pocket. In this profession, a tip is expected and deserved, no matter what the person's rank in the company is.
I would tip who ever did them. Everyone deserves a tip for a job well done. It's a tedious job to do nails. It's worth a tip.

Many thanks xxBeauty hel. Nail Task.?
Hand cream; Used to perform a hand and arm massage, prevents friction burns from massage, helps moisturise nails and skin.

Cuticle massage cream; used on cuticles to moisturise and soften, used before cuticles are pushed back, sometimes made out of paraffin wax or oils.

Basecoat; applied before nail polish, provides a smooth surface

Topcoat; seals, protects from knocks and scratches.

Nail hardener/Stengthener; applied onto fragile and flaking nails, produces a coat which reinforces the nail.Beauty hel. Nail Task.?
hand cream softens the rough skin on your hands, cuticle cream loosens and softens the cuticle so you can push it back, a base coat preps any grooves in your nails for the actual color, a top coat give the polish a shield so it lasts longer without chips and gives it more of a shine, and nail strengtheners help your nails from breaking and peeling easily.... hope this helped :)

I pay rent my own advertising and insurance for my clients and there are no contracts signed. I am leaving as I have another job not in beauty but I still want to do the client's I have at home Are these client mine to take as the owner says I can not take the clients as the her salons clients, If they were her clients I shouldn't have to pay rent, insurance or my own advertising.

PLEASE HELP...I'm a nail tech, I pay my own rent, insurance and advertising in a beauty salon are they my clientsorthe salon
You could try to ';win'; them over by offering them a lower price to do their nails at your home.. You can charge less since you wouldn't have to advertise or pay ';rent';... Maybe, take their business cards/numbers and offer to do parties or free mani for referrals.. If you didn't sign a contract then I don't see why you couldn't let your clients know that you are leaving and give them a business card so they can book an appt. It wouldn't be ';taking'; the clients- it would just be informing them of your leaving.

Good luckI'm a nail tech, I pay my own rent, insurance and advertising in a beauty salon are they my clientsorthe salon
Nope, if you pay rent, it's YOUR booth, and YOUR clientel. Don't listen to her, just give your clients your own personal business card, and hopefully they'll follow you.

    Good Luck!
it's your clients you pay for everything before you leave make new business cards and give them to YOUR clients so they can contact you when you leave

Beauty: Where can I get a nail dryer?

Where can I buy one for home use to dry my nails?

I've been using a hairdryer up until now and I think a nail dryer would be better for my nails.Beauty: Where can I get a nail dryer?
I am a hairdresser and would recommend you try Sally's or Ebay. I would suggest you get the UV lamp type of dryer (such as Pro Finish, ebay has cheaper ones though), it is a light system used in conjunction with a UV top coat (I like Rock brand). I can do my toenails 30 minutes before bed (one topcoat, two coats color, one base coat) and wake up with perfect polish. The best drying system available. xxIs the girls' nail are important for a beauty?
    No!

    I have NEVER, EVER been with a group of guys and heard the expression, ';Wow, check out the sexy nails on HER!';

Guys don't notice a woman's nails unless they are grotesquely long - like two inches or more.

Girls do their nails to impress their other girl friends or themselves.

Guys don't care. Guys are into butts, breasts, legs, hair, eyes, or smiles, NOT nails.
    yes. It's really important.
Well, if you have dirty, un-cared for nailes, that could make someone think it's a reflection of you as a person. You don't have to go out and get a manicure or anything fancy done to them, but just keep them trimmed, clean and I always think some clear or light colored polish looks nice, but it's not necessary. Just take care of yourself :)

Roughly how much would it cost me to have nail tips done nicely in a beauty salon?

in england (london area) it costs around 拢30 for it to be done decentlyRoughly how much would it cost me to have nail tips done nicely in a beauty salon?
It depends very much which country you are planning to have this done in. It will then depend on the quality and profile of the salon. Go and ask!Roughly how much would it cost me to have nail tips done nicely in a beauty salon?
    my estimate would be $25-$40
By me in NYC it's 20.00 for a full set. for Acryllic.

Glass %26amp; Gel can be upwards to $50.00
I'm a nail art designer,....usually high street salons are on the Internet, modern ones any way.try that they have price lists. prices vary a lot.or call a salon and ask.'; there are really nice ones'; and there called naturals. and look more natural. than synthetic.witch look really thick.
    $20-$45
    about $25-$30
    Where i live a good salon charges,拢35-40.
i think it depends if you go to chop shop or a spa type, cheaper in some places. chop shops use sub standard product, the nicer shops use better product, which well be better for your nails i charge 50.00 so you can decide

you can check the better types on the web creative nail has a site to find a salon near you.

What site can i use to, help me find a Nail Technician that is needed for my Beauty Salon?

You can use monster and create an account as an employer, but I find the newspaper works the best. You can just put in an ad, it's not expensive, and you will find more people in your area.

When looking for a job, most people check the newspaper still.

Why do People Wear masks whilst at the nail/beauty salon??

They Don't.Why do People Wear masks whilst at the nail/beauty salon??

to prevent allergic reactions from the strong fumes of the chemicals use to treat the hair, nails, face, etc. More often than not continuing exposure to strong fumes can affect their health.

and also, to avoid small debris from the hair or nail cuttings be inhaled, some sort of preventing hairballs clogging up the throat.

more like to maintain sanitation standard.
face masks or the ones that they cover their mouths with?

face- relax %26amp; good for skin

other- no germs, dont breathe on the people, stop bits going in their mouth %26amp; not breathe in fumes
The solvents and nail polish are very strong and the electric drill used in finishing acyclic nails sends fine particles in the air. Masks are used by the technicians to avoid respiratory problems as they are in the salon for 8 hours each day.

Many smaller salons don't have adequate ventilation to suppress the fumes from all the products used. I only go to a salon with great service, cleanliness and ventilation where masks are only worn by techs doing acyclic nails.
I have not seen any one wearing masks. If you have maybe they are scared of catching aids
they do not want other peoples germs
    to help them relax.
because the smell is so overpowering dont know why us clients dont get masks!
I believe it's from all the chemical's they use, some nail places seem to have stronger smell's than others. Though I don't believe the mask's help that much
It helps you relax. It calms your nervous system and 'takes your worries away' for a bit.
They are trying to hide their identity.
Prob because of all the fumes and toxins they get off all the chemicals they use

I don't think the masks work tho and also if they do they should give them to us when we are in ;-)
i think they wear them to keep the stuff out of their face and mouth
If you are referring to the workers, they normally do it to keep the acrylic powder out of their nose and mouth. That dust is super fine and gets into EVERYTHING, so the less you breath in the better off you are. Also, the acrylic liquid has a very strong smell and can be harmful if breathed in for long periods of time. The mask helps muffle that smell. If you are talking about the patrons, the masks they wear are for aesthetic purposes like firming the skin, or helping with their complexion.
like algae masks, b/c those and other types firm the skin and clean it, leaving you feeling refreshed
the chemicals that they use can be really bad for you if you are around them all day every day, not to mention all the dust (ond other crap) in the air from filing nails

or it could be all the stinky feet ;p

What do you think if a guy walks into a beauty salon and wants to get a pedicure and get his nails polished?

Im a 29 year old guy and i get my toenails done at the beauty salon once a month and i recently started wearing color on my toenails. I love how the colored nail polish looks on my toenails and i have received alot of good complements on them. What do you think if a guy walks into a beauty salon and wants to get a pedicure and get his nails polished?
It's fine to get your nails polished, there's no rule about you not being able to. As for the reactions, let them think what they want to think. Be confident in yourself. What do you think if a guy walks into a beauty salon and wants to get a pedicure and get his nails polished?
I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but that is kind of gay. But hey, if you want to, go for it!
OK i think it's pretty weird if a guy does it unless he's gay or something but if you like it then hey u shouldn't care about what others say!! and since you've got compliments on them i guess you probably look good with nail polish on them!
    hahhahahaha.

it's okay to express your feminine side.

but the polish on the nails. that's a little too much.
I don't think anything is wrong with that! Do what makes you feel good I say. Who cares what people say, its your toenail.. color it perdiful.
    He's effeminate. Not attractive.
omg....... that is gay %26amp; wrong on soooooo many levels.......
I don't see anything wrong with a guy wanting to keep himself well groomed. As for the color nail polish ... if you're getting compliments and enjoy wearing polish ... go for it. It isn't hurting anyone and the world can use more color :)
    It's none of my business.
As long as you have the money to pay for it,who cares.
It sounds like you're wondering what people will think of you, but you're liable to get a different kind of response from every person who answers. If you're wanting validation for your choice to get professional pedicures, you'll probably find it on answers, but then again you'll probably find others who snicker or rebuke.

I wonder if you still haven't decided what you think of it. Maybe you've stepped outside your comfort zone, and you still don't know how to fit your choice into your identity. Maybe you feel comfortable and free in this choice, more so than with anything you've ever done. Maybe that is challenging your your self-concept.

My suggestion is to look for small insights into yourself over a space of time. Don't get too black and white with yourself. Complex questions usually have complex answers, and don't always point to radical changes.
I think it's okay to get a pedicure. But don't color them, a little creepy.
that he is gay. or likes to act like a girl. or hes got problems.
    I see men

(all ages too) at my salon all the time..sometimes they even come in with the friends /girlfriends/ wives..

I like it when I see a guy taking care of himself..that stereotype that men cant go to nail salons should be put away...

Just to add..I ve sen some MAJOR STARS who are men that wear polish on their hands...so I say all the power too ya!!!
pedicure for a man??so what...??!!! it's a common thing to do nowadays, it's a fashion.

    nails polished?? is it necessary???
    You're quite feminine aren't you?
its fine as long as you don't do the color.. thats just weird. But doing it to be nice and clean is always a good idea.
Wow a guy who gets his nails done and wears flip flops.
i think it takes a real man to go and do that don't mind what other people say just ignore them if they are offending you that is be yourself. ROCK ON!!!!!
    ewwww
I thought this was going to be the start of a joke. My mistake. I'll leave now. Have a good one.
Okay,,,this is going wayyyy over the heterosexual board....
well, getting your nails done in a beauty saloon its ok, i do mines once in a while, even wear polish (colorless) ....... feels great.

but coloring your toenails ..... or any nails for that matter, its a little over the top if you ask me
I guess its no different than a man going to a salon and getting lights put into his hair. I know alote of strait guys that get that done.

Why is beauty criteria nowadays (in USA) all about fakeries? Hair, skin and eye color, nails, boobs, teeth...

I see women who are supposed to be beautiful but their hair is fake, with hair extensions and coloring, their eyelashes are fake and glued on, over fake contact lenses to change the color of their eyes, their nails are fake, their boobs are made out of water, their teeth are straightened, bleached and as white as snow, their skin is artificially tan or covered in make up, they have implants everywhere and even their smile is fake...

It's like the less human you look, the better...are we going into the android age by starting to make humans look like dolls? Why is beauty criteria nowadays (in USA) all about fakeries? Hair, skin and eye color, nails, boobs, teeth...
i do not like fake i like real women. i really don't like makeup (well certain stuff) it is not only the time it takes to put it on but you are not suppose to look different supposedly. i am sorry if this was an all girl thingWhy is beauty criteria nowadays (in USA) all about fakeries? Hair, skin and eye color, nails, boobs, teeth...
It is because the media portrays women as paperdoll skinny, and we are all trying to look and act like celebrities. It is very sad.
I hate it too because I cant afford to compete. Im a big fake too.Colored hair, clear contacts,no coke bottles glasses, capped teeth but the thing if we did nothing we would look awful.Men seem to like fake. Its a fantasy.I cant afford all the surgery though.

We are a newly opened nail beauty salon in Leeds -whatdo you think of acrylic nail extensions compared to gel?

I've had my nails done for years and years. I used to use gel because I thought they lasted longer, didn't break as much, and didn't dull as much as acrylic. However, I've come to realize that acrylic and gel last about the same time, and break about the same. The only difference in my mind is the shine. I think gel probably does keep a shine longer, but it really doesn't matter if you decide to use nail polish, instead of just keeping it with the pink/white etc. Additionally, right now nail polish is much more popular then french manicure. Gel costs more, and takes alittle longer because there is the extra step of using the UV light. Acrylic is probably a better deal.We are a newly opened nail beauty salon in Leeds -whatdo you think of acrylic nail extensions compared to gel?
don,t know the difference..sorry and good luck on your new ventureWe are a newly opened nail beauty salon in Leeds -whatdo you think of acrylic nail extensions compared to gel?
Mums had shop for 30 years and she swears by gel even though much more expensive. Dont ask me why not a clue..
To be honst to you niether of them will work like they say they do. Tust me I tried everything in both and they don't work.
i would recommend gel nails they look so much nicer but watch out when you get them done as they can really damage your own nails i have just done acryic nails as i find them a bit quicker.
    Gel Gel Gel

Last longer and looks more natural.
    =[
i switched to gel and will never go back to acrylic. they are stronger, last longer and look much better
I like Acrylic better just because i can get them thinner and more natural looking then i can with gel... or it could of been operators error!

I need some helth tips for maintaining long nails, neet and tidy. pink coloured. What's the effect of nailpaint.I have increased my nails for the first time, is that necessary for beauty of fingers,if so how to maintain .?
trim them regularly and keep them clean as if they are dirty and thereafter you touch your face they may cause infection. you can aplly nail paint on and off. however regular application of nail paint make them yellow.

just tell them u want a manicure

there not going to tell u noDo all nail/beauty salons accept guys there?
they should, and just tell them exactly what you want so no mistakes are made.

    hope this hepls xx

Trust me,there aren't any salons that will give up the chance to get more money.

All you do is make an appointment (which sometimes you don't even have to do) and when you get there and sit down, tell them you want a french manicure. Simple. They won't say no....

    hope this helps 鈾?br>

    yes ofcourse they should

there not suppose to decrimanate against guys (:

if they dont accept guys u can take them 2 court cus that would be discemition

Always. I see them at every shop I've ever been too. Guys need pampering too! Gotta love a guy that takes care of himself.

Vegan nail polish at beauty supply store?

So. I was at a beauty supply store and I saw a bottle of nail polish with a label proclaiming ';Vegan!'; Does nail polish normally contain animal products? I mean, I know some colorants such as carmine aren't vegan, but what exactly are the non-vegan ingredients in nail polish?Vegan nail polish at beauty supply store?
Nail polish with a pearl look is likely not vegan because it is probably made of fish scales.Vegan nail polish at beauty supply store?
It probably means it hasn't been tested on animals, and doesn't contain ingredients tested on animals after a certain date, plus no animal ingredients like lanolin for example.
Lol what? Wow..... I'm a vegan and I think that is ridiculous

Where can I find fake nail kits like the ones they use in a beauty salon?

I don't really want to spend a fortune. I'm tired of paying a ton of money to get them done professionally.

I live in Portland, OR. So any stores there that sell them?Where can I find fake nail kits like the ones they use in a beauty salon?
Do you have a Sally's?Where can I find fake nail kits like the ones they use in a beauty salon?
Actually if you have a local walgreens pharmacy and CVS pharmacy they are very inexpensive. The kit comes complete for you to do your nails about 5-8 times. It brings everything you need! They are also very practical. I live in florida and they cost about $15-20. The kit comes complete with plastic organizer box. Sally's beauty supply is also an option although they will be a bit more expensive there than a pharmacy store. I personally have used these kits as well as the kiss brand predone kits and they work great!!

    hope this helps

Well you could always use your first name, a family name. Um Grab a Thesaurus and look up beauty and see what other words are and see if any of those could strike you as something you would want to name you store. You could use something like ';Utopia Beauty Salon';...Utopia means a world in which everything and everyone is perfect..when a woman or man leaves your store you want them to feel perfect..so that could work..something like that..just a few suggestions..good luck.

I can send you a link where you can get some great beauty/spa products. The products are botanically based, contain no mineral oil, no animal products/by-products, and no dyes or chemical fragrances. The skin care is amazing! I can't leave the link here because of the community rules, but if you respond to this I can send it off to you.

OH! you mean who wants to give innocent people nail fungus and skin cancer??

    sorry. no buyer here.

Plastic or natural? Fake tan/nails/boobs/eyelashes/hair extensions etc or natural beauty? girls and guys!?

Does the plastic look attract or not. I get the image of 'fake personality' also and these girls aren't genuine........Plastic or natural? Fake tan/nails/boobs/eyelashes/hair extensions etc or natural beauty? girls and guys!?
I say natural beauty all the way. It's not even really about looks, but more about the philosophy that goes with it that's attractive, the concept that they don't need to buy into society's ideas...

I mean, a bit of subtle make-up, nail polish, etc is just fine, but some folks become dependent on it, and that's no good.Plastic or natural? Fake tan/nails/boobs/eyelashes/hair extensions etc or natural beauty? girls and guys!?
well obviously natural is better. I mean i can't notice the difference between real hair or hair extensions, real boobs or fake boobs, real eyelashes or fake ones and real tan or fake tan. So i guess it won't really make a difference. But if i knew, i would prefer natural.
Do what works for you...what matters is that you like what you see in the mirror and feel confident about who you are. If that takes a little ';store bought'; help, so be it. Who cares? Doesn't change your basic personality...

I use a tanning bed. So what? I also tan in the sun...the difference is one way I pay for skin cancer, the other way I get it for free.

I'd get boob implants in a heartbeat if I had the money (but I need a lift and fill). Who cares if others like them or not? If they don't, then they shouldn't have it done. I'd like to have slightly larger breasts that face forward (not at my toes) and I see no reason not have those if it's possible.

Fake eyelashes are kinda 1960s, but if that's what a gal likes, then it harms no one. Hair extensions are harmless also...if you can't grow long hair on your own (I can't...not much past my shoulders) but want long hair, why not buy some and wear it whenever you want? How amazing and wonderful that we have all these options! 鈽?br>

What's really kewl is if we aren't content with our appearance, we can make oh so many changes (with enough money). It's really great to have options, even if we don't take advantage of them.

Bottom line is that what's inside is so much more important than the wrapping...why not have the kind of wrapping you desire?
When girls get plastic surgery sometimes the plastic shows.. So I'd say natural. And I don't think anything that's fake really rocks.. If anything fake nails, and hair extensions. But natural beauty is the most best one. But it doesn't matter whats on the outside, just the inside..

    -Z
    Both.

I do the natural thing often cause I don't need a lot of makeup. But then again, its fun to tan, get your nails done, where a lot of make up, put in hair extensions...not all the time though.

And Im against plastic surgery though. God made our bodies the way they are for a reason.

    :)
Well people usually get plastic surgery because they are confident that they look good, but it doesnt change how they are. But I think confident girls are more sexy ;D
i would think that men like natural. if you take out a weave fake lashes etc..and he doesn't recognize you there is a problem! fake boobs i get.
i think fake anything is tacky.. the prospect of it just turns me off immediately.
Real is the way to go.!

Much Love from very far away!!!
I would love to see those long toenails, am a guy and I love long toenails on a woman, very sexy! keep'em long.
that's kinda freaky but my best friend used to do that and then she had to stop because she got shipped off to a nut house........ I'm not playing ......... i don't see nothing wrong with it, maybe you should go for ten inches
its not really right to let yerr nails cure over cause they can break or chip VERY easily.

5 inch. might bee a little too much.

try sizing them down a little!
are u serious?? thats unattractive and gross...either u are lying or exaggerating...theres no WAY they could be 5 inches!! 5 in are just about the size of my hand you retard
Don't think so.....certainly doesn't sound very attractive to me....infact I think that if they are longer than the end of your toe....that is entirely too long. I think that short, manicured toenails and fingernails are the in thing this season.

TRIM THOSE SUCKERS....OR MAYBE YOU WANT TO CLIMB TREES!
Hmm... I'd clip them down a little bit. If they're too long, then they can break and chip. Also, really long toenails can be thought of as unnatractive and insane. Of coarse, if you really enjoy it, then more power to you. It gives you a sence of self.
I can't stand my toenails being beyond the end of my toe. If you like them long; all power to you. What do you do when you have to wear closed-toe shoes.

saves money on makeup removal, and it works magic.
This is a really broad question.

If you are young and are just starting out wearing make-up- I would go to a department store and schedule an appointment at the make-up counter.

I went to the Clinque counter and did this with my grandma when I turned 13. I took a friend's daughter when she turned 13 for her birthday present because she had questions.)

If you can go to the counter with an adult- I think they treat you a bit nicer. but that is just my opinion about most adults towards teens.

Anyway, you dont have to buy all the products they put on you, but you should come prepared to buy at least one.

As for my own beauty tips:

I like Great Lash Mascara and neutral shades for eyeshadow. and I use Maybelline eyeliner over my top lashes and under my bottom ones.

I use moisturizers with sunblock EVERY DAY.

I have fair skin and just use face powder instead of base.

For make- up removal- I use baby wipes. They are the best and very gentle.

For nails, I like the Sally Hansen clear for under and over color or sometimes just plain (like for job interviews.)

I keep my nails medium length- long enough to type comfortably. Some times I like to wear fun colors. :)

Hair- wash as often as your hairdresser suggests. When I was younger she said every day. As an adult, she says every other day- something about keeping the natural oils.

    I hope that helps you!

Which would be a better career to go to beauty school for: A nail technician or an esthetician?

I am really interested in both but can't decide which one would be better and I don't really want to go through a cosmetology program where they teach you hair too I'm not really interested in that so I have to decide which one would be better out of those two. Any help please? :)Which would be a better career to go to beauty school for: A nail technician or an esthetician?
I'm doing aesthetics program and I really like it. I was thinking about nail tech too but I think this field is a little more diverse. You move to different parts of the body: Hand %26amp; feet with reflexology, face for facials, legs arms and eyebrows for waxing. Aesthetics really give people time to relax and leave there problems at the door. I would try it first andafter you finish that program and you still feel a passion for nail tech, go for it. alot of salon and spas like diverse practicioners. That's more money for you. Plus cosmotolegy doesn't go into enough detail as the exactual program does. They just lightly skim those areas even though legally they can preform nail tech and esthetician acts. Good Luck!Which would be a better career to go to beauty school for: A nail technician or an esthetician?
What is it that YOU want to do? Do you want to do nails, Acrylic, Gel, Manicuring, Pedicuring? Or do you want to do Facials, waxing, and make up? You can earn as much money in either career, But if you choose one that you end up really not liking, It'll pretty much suck for you, 'cause your stuck with that unless you want to dish out the money for a Esthetics course.

Why don't you just do Cosmetology? Yeah, It involves hair, But after you graduate school, You don't even have to do hair. You can do Nails and Skin. You may even find that you enjoy doing hair..

What do girls think when they see a guy who gets his nails done at the beauty salon and has his nails polishe?

I think it's cool that they can express themselves in this conformist society.

Good for you for wearing your bright nail polish! What do girls think when they see a guy who gets his nails done at the beauty salon and has his nails polishe?
I'd say you鈥檙e asking to make us all laugh. But if you are serious and this is not a joke, then I say sooooo gay. It's one thing for a guy to just get a pedicure or manicure, but to add polish and acrylic nails is just gross. What do girls think when they see a guy who gets his nails done at the beauty salon and has his nails polishe?
I wouldn't like it if my husband did it, unless he really wanted to. But then I'd dump him. JK. Just like tatoos or piercings, they are an individuals, choice. It's up to you, not me. Do what you want. But don't blame me for what anyone else might say.
Most women would assume that he's gay. However, I have known heterosexual men who got their nails manicured due to their profession such as acting, modeling...Just wanting to seem like the best at audtions/casting calls.
Too metro sexual. Clear polish MAY pass muster. But color? Find a gal who doesn't mind sharing her clothes. Good luck finding one that doesn't mind sharing her shoes though.
    ..........
I think ';what a fruitcake';. Sorry, but that's the truth.
    that their probably gay.

Is it wrong for a guy to have his nails painted while he has his nails done in a beauty salon?

I had my toenails done on wednesday and the girl who did my nails asked me what color i wanted on them. So i chose a pretty red nail polish to wear on my toenails and also when i had my fingernails done the girl asked me the same thing and i chose the same red to match my red toenails. Was this wrong for me to do this?Is it wrong for a guy to have his nails painted while he has his nails done in a beauty salon?
Do what you want...it's just a fashion choice and it's completely up to you.Is it wrong for a guy to have his nails painted while he has his nails done in a beauty salon?
well if YOU like it then whats the big deal?

i got my toes done today and there was a family next to me - mom and daughter and son getting pedicures... he got clear but the girl did ask him ;)
No.....but why did you have them painted in the first place......
    oh dear.
toe nails that's gay sorry your hands no big deal i do it often usually my self though
    You must be gay.

    And to the first girl, no it is not ';so cuteeeeeee';

    It's GAY.
I don't mean to be typical but most men don't have their nails painted, let alone fuss about the colour.
ur metrosexual but its ur decision
To be straight and honest with you , looks kinda like some one told you or dared you to do this, course it doesn't matter , Obama trys to be white.
nope. RuPaul does it all the time
    r u gay?

if u are, then it's not that wrong

but if ur not its VERY wrong

in case noone never told u, guys dont wear nail polish (except maybe clear and that's rare)
its sickening, that's what it is. I like my man with rough calloused hands. a man's man. no girly men for me.
It's not wrong. You're not hurting anyone else. But it is out of the ordinary, at least in my part of the world (Santa Fe).

In my community, you would probably get a few strange looks, and maybe a snide comment or two, as anyone does who strays too far from social conventions. If you can handle that, and painting your nails makes you happy, I say go for it.
dude a guy just shouldn't have his nails done.
boy you do what ever you want because those who care dont matter and those who matter dont care
I am completely clueless about men now!!
    Not if you're gay.
    ummm yeah kinda.
i get a manicure from time to time and wear a special flat nail hardener , from the days i worked in a commercial dark room , hands in fixer solution softens the nails , almost out of it , wish i could find some these days.
    are you gay?
DUDE~ my cheerleading coach is gay and he just gets his nails buffed at the salon! So your a transie
what is a guy doing in a beauty salon? but yes it is wrong. and r u gay? but you can do what you want and dont take other peoples advice sorry about me asking if you are gay. but if you like to paint your finger nails you can.
uh, yes it is wrong. are you gay? seriously..... you can get a manicure or pedicure, but no polish. come on........
are you SURE ur not gay?
if it's not halloween and ur not gay then u kinda rossed the socially-acceptable line of being metro. red polish is beyond that. but more power to u for pushing societie's boundaries and keeping ppl guessing ;)
Why would it be wrong? Are you hurting anybody or hurting yourself by putting on nailpolish? No your not. Boys not wearing nail polish is just a rule society made up, wear whatever you want. it's not wrong. And just because you like ';girl'; things, doesn't mean you're gay. I think a lot of guys that say they're gay, just say that 'cause they like things society considers to be for ';girls only'; so because they like that stuff, they think they're gay. that's stupid.
    unnatural
no it shows you are above most men who are afraid of sterotypes and criticism

    way to go
people might think you are gay. If you are thats fine! but thats an image you could project.
it depends who you are, i might find it cute depending on the guy... but I would expect either black or clear... I just can't picture red, but if it works then... cool.
Yeah it sounds pretty gay. It's okay to get a manicure but don't paint them.

  • Beauty question....I want my nails to grow out.?

I want my nails to grow out just a little bit....they have never grown more than about a fourth of an inch. And when they did they chiped at the base of the nail or somewhere else above the base. I have never ever grown nails any longer. Does anybody know how I can get my nails healthy and strong? I only want a half of an inch on each finger...thats all. My hair will grow and my toe nails....but no luck with my nails. Help me if you can.....Beauty question....I want my nails to grow out.?
    try this recipe

    one clear nail polish

    one clove of fresh garlic

    1. cut the garlic into lil pieces

    2. put the cut up garlic into the clear nail polish

    3. store in a dark room or a drawer (away from sunlight)

    4. after like 3 or 4 days paint nails with this polish

the garlic will make the nails shiny, healthy, strong and beautiful....which will mke them grow

try this u have nothing to loseBeauty question....I want my nails to grow out.?
Try using a nail polish that's meant to grow nails, I don't believe in them because it doesn't make sense to me since the body regulates these things, but some swear by them and say they work.

I think any nail polish would do the same if you put a few coats on to keep nails from breaking, but that's just me haha =o)

If it works for you, that's all that matters.

Also, if you have any other strange symptoms, see a doctor, nails not growing or being very brittle can be signs of something not being right in your body. It's not very likely, but just in case, be aware.

If you're otherwise healthy, then this is just how your nails are just like some people's hair grows faster and slower, so do nails =o)
There is this stuff that you paint on your nails, just like nail polish, and it even looks like it. It makes your nails grow faster and you can find it in the nail polish section at any store. works like magic. Also, to deal with the weakness of your nails, I used to have the same prob. If you take vitamin C vitamins, it strengthens your nails. Plus it's good for ya! ;)
Knox gelatin. It's great for making your nails grow. Buy it at the supermarket.

Any beauty experts or people who know about nails help!!?

    Hey :)

Is there any way of changing your nail shape?

Because mine are a rectange shape [ ] %26lt;- like that.

When others are a nice long oval shape 0 %26lt;- like that.

What techniques are there of pushing cuticles back.

Any different ways? What shape should you push them back to, oval, squared?

Also, when you cut them should you cut them squared or rounded?Any beauty experts or people who know about nails help!!?
To change the shape of your nails, file them rounded and they should have an oval tip on them.

The technique for pushing cuticles back is you must soak your hands in warm water to soften the cuticles, then with a cuticlacle pusher gently push them back, if they are still a bit tough, dont force them, just soak them for a little while longer so that they are soft enough for you to push them back. Also if you want an oval shape, push the cuticles to an oval shape (buy an oval shaped cuticle pusher).

After pushing the cuticles back, i recommend buying cuticle oil just to keep them moist, to stop them from drying out, because pushing them back can dry them out.

When you cut your nails, use a rounded nail clipper and shape them that way. Make sure you buy some nail strengthener because they can become weak after shaping them, but they will eventually strengthen, but a strengthener should speed up the process. Im glad i could be of help and i hope this was useful. Good luck!Any beauty experts or people who know about nails help!!?
oval is best, that way they look natural. if you cut them rounded instead of square they will grow longer and better. x
use a file and round your nails with that, also cut your nails in a square( not too short) then file them.

    don't know about cuticles..sorry

A friend once told me that while her cousin was training in beauty, she painted her son's nails at home.?

If only done and worn at home, would you have said it is appropriate?

He was willing and liked it.A friend once told me that while her cousin was training in beauty, she painted her son's nails at home.?
Well, I don't see a big problem with that... in other cultures it is the man who gets ';adorned'; with beautiful things. Also, I think it depends on the age of the son.

  • Where can I find qualified nail technicians and beauty therapists for my business?

Look for the nearest colleges that specialize in that. Then, go staple a flyer to the kiosks. You could also visit the local establishments and talk to the people there.
